Harwich Town Council 28/10

Darren attendedHarwich Town Council Crest the Harwich Town Council meeting on Wednesday 28/10 as part of his engagement with the various communities across the Harwich & North Essex Constituency. At the meeting Darren was disappointed to hear that the PCT are still blocking a proposal for a "well man's clinic" to be established at Harwich Hospital. He was also disappointed to hear that Tendring District Council appear to be making change to the Harwich Master Plan without any consultation with the Town Council.

The council expressed their dismay that Essex County Council were proposing to spend £2.88m on renovating Connaught Avenue in Frinton but nothing had been proposed or discussed for the High Street in Dovercourt. Lord Hanningfield, leader of Essex County Council will be requested to meet with the Town Council to explain why Harwich is being forgotten.

During the evening the council received a very interesting presentation from Tom Daly about the £4m project to build a replica of the Mayflower as a major tourist attraction in Harwich. The proposal was warmly welcomed by the Town Council.
