Darren judges Harwich Children's Carnival Friday 29/06

The weather was suitably fine for the 750 children who had worked so hard to prepare for Harwich's first ever Children's Carnival, organised by Creative Partnerships Tendring (CPT).

Darren & Betty HolbrookAs Chair of CPT, I was delighted to be asked to undertake the extremely difficult task of judging the schools taking part in the parade. I was ably assisted by the expertise and experience of Betty Holbrook and Cherly Thompson, who have for many years been central figures within Harwich's unique Guy Carnival.

Congratulations to all the schools taking part ; Spring Meadow, Chase Lane, All Saints, Mayflower, St Clares, Harwich County Primary and Coppins Green.

Following our careful deliberations the following schools were awarded prizes by the Harwich Town Mayor Dave McLeod.

Darren with Town Mayor Dave McLeod #2Best Overall : Spring Meadow Primary School, Harwich

Best Dance : All Saints Primary School, Dovercourt

Best Music : Harwich Community Primary School

Best Costume : Mayflower Primary School, Harwich

Thanks go to all those children who took part and the Harwich Carnival Club for their excellent input and finally to Daniel Bernstein, who masterminded the day!

I look forward to next year!!
